Receptionist/Office Manager

Lyrel joined the Guelph Cat Clinic team in May 2018 as a receptionist. She graduated from Western University with a Bachelor’s degree in communications. After working in pet specific retail jobs she realized how much she loved working with animals so as a result she is currently enrolled in Sheridan’s veterinary receptionist program while working at the clinic.

At home Lyrel has 2 mixed breed dogs Alaska and Bruno, as well as her cat Snickers (and a betta fish!) In her spare time she enjoys playing with the dogs, baking, cooking and reading.

Cheryl joined our team as a receptionist and animal care aide in January 2009. She has four cats: Calvin, Leo, Guinness and Willy. Cheryl has a B.Sc. (Biology), B.A.hon. (Psychology & Neuroscience) and M.Sc. (Biomedical Science) from the University of Guelph. She also works at the university part time as a laboratory technician. Some of her other hobbies include playing hockey, fish keeping, playing with children, baking cheesecakes, knitting and sewing sock monkeys.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Mason, a 2014 Registered Veterinary Technician graduate of the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus, joined the Guelph Cat Clinic in November of 2015. Prior to joining the Guelph Cat Clinic team, Mason, who has a B.Sc. (Biology) also from the University of Guelph, has worked in the radiology department of the Ontario Veterinary College as well as an exotic and small animal clinic in Waterloo. Always having an interest in feline medicine, Mason is finding the Guelph Cat Clinic a “purr-fect” fit.

Currently, Mason shares his home with his ten year-old, Kiki, who was found on the University of Guelph Campus. Oustide of the clinic, Mason is training in competitive kickboxing and plans to compete at both the local and provincial levels. In addition to kickboxing, Mason also enjoys rock climbing and cooking, as well as playing video games.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Michelene graduated as a veterinary technician from the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus in 2015 and joined the Guelph Cat Clinic team in the spring of 2017. It was as a mature student that Michelene, who always facinated by animals, attended the program and truly discovered her passion was really directed towards feline medicine.

In her spare time, Michelene enjoys Table Top Role Playing games such as Dungeon’s and Dragons, as well as playing video games. She and her husband share their home with two rescue cats: Lady and Stormageddon, and their mixed breed dog: Sabine.

Jane joined our team as a receptionist and animal care aide in November of 2014. Jane and her two children currently share their home with Zada, a rescue border collie cross. She has a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art from the University of Guelph. Jane enjoys a variety creative interests and spending time outdoors.

Happiness and Morale Officer

Molly joined our team in July of 2019, her sweet disposition making her an instant hit with both the staff and our customers.  She quickly redecorated the doctors’ office, whose desks are now covered with cat toys and fluffy blankets, into something more jovial and homey.  In no time, she earned herself a promotion as the Happiness and Morale Officer of the clinic.

Molly claims no formal training for her charms, and believes that all her skills come to her naturally.  When greeting someone, she performs her signature move the “Molly Floops” and gives them the opportunity to rub her tummy should they choose to.

Although she won’t admit it, Molly has a weakness for catnip and sometimes sneaks off with a fresh catnip pouch snatched from the front counter.  Her favorite toy is a little blue mouse that a customer knitted just for her! Despite all her hard work, she is sometimes found napping on the couch in the staff room!
